Managing Project Budgets and Retainers

Keep every project profitable with real-time budget tracking. Set fixed-fee or retainer budgets, watch burn rates update as your team logs time, and get alerts before you go over.

Open the Budget tab

Navigate to a project and click the Budget tab in the project header.

Set a budget type

Choose Fixed (one-time budget) or Retainer (recurring monthly budget). Enter the total hours or dollar amount.

Configure alerts

DevFlow alerts you at 75% and 90% burn by default. You can adjust these thresholds in the budget settings.

Track burn in real time

As your team logs time, the budget bar updates automatically. You can see hours used, hours remaining, and projected completion.

Retainer auto-reset

For retainer budgets, the budget resets automatically at the start of each billing period. Unused hours are tracked in the history.
